Tip of the Week November 10

Tip of the Week: Learn standard copy edit marks.

If you go here to the Chicago Manual of Style, you will find a page of standard copy edit marks. They're useful little beasts that will make it easier for you and your critique group (or editor) communicate. Nothing is more confusing than trying to explain to someone what you think a work needs without using standard marks. So learn them. Love them. Make them your own.

I found a few of these marks interesting, and am glad I have not seen them on my returned MS, because I would not know how to do what they were asking...like the 'insert hair space.' How do you make less than a letter space on the computer?

How funny! I was planning to look up these today. And then I was reading your blog and there's the link! Too weird!
